On Wednesday 24th June, the nursery opened Shani’s Sensory Garden, which would have been Shani’s 50th birthday. The nursery has created an area at the side of the building for the children to explore—a relaxing space for them to spend time in.
In the garden, the children have a wild area with blooming flowers, a chalkboard, seating areas, two decking areas for the children to take part in activities, and a sensory area. The children will help look after the sensory garden while learning at the same time.
Staff will also spend time there during their lunch breaks, as it is such a calming space. Shani would have been so pleased with what has been created, and we know the children will be able to enjoy the space for many, many years to come.
