Here are some of Rafles Nursery & Pre-School’s most frequently asked questions to give you more information about us and the unique service we provide. If you have a question that you can’t find the answer to, please use the contact us page

  • What are your opening hours?

Our core opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We also offer a pre-arranged early start from 7:00 a.m. for an additional charge.

  • What’s included in the fees?

Daily access to our extensive landscape and creative outdoor grounds for children to explore. Access to our on-site allotment, where we grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs. All meals and snacks, which are homemade and freshly cooked on-site. Higher-than-required staffing ratios, ensuring exceptional care and attention for every child.

  • Is it possible to book extra sessions for my child?

Yes, providing there is space available for your child. We just ask that all requests are made via email.

  • Where can I find an enrolment form?

Please email office@raflesnursery.com, and we’ll be happy to send one to you.

  • How do you support children settling in?

We run settling-in sessions that gradually increase in length, helping each child become familiar and comfortable with their new surroundings and routines.

  • If my child is unwell, are they able to attend?

We have a strict illness and infection policy, which includes exclusion periods for certain infections. However, mild coughs, colds, and other regular childhood illnesses can usually be managed at nursery.

  • Can I see your policies and procedures?

Yes, a full copy of all our policies and procedures is available to read at the nursery. We can also provide an electronic copy upon request.

  • Do you accept government funding?

Yes, we accept all applicable government funding schemes for eligible families. Our team can help guide you through the application process and explain what options are available.

  • What’s your staff-to-child ratio?

We maintain industry-recommended staff-to-child ratios to ensure every child receives plenty of individual attention. For babies, the ratio is typically 1:3, toddlers 1:4, and preschoolers 1:8, though this may vary slightly depending on local regulations.

  • Can I visit before enrolling?

Absolutely! We encourage all families to book a visit to tour our facilities, meet our team, and see firsthand the nurturing environment we provide.

  • What if my child has allergies or medical needs?

Your child’s health and safety are our top priorities. We work closely with families to develop individual care plans and ensure all allergies or medical needs are carefully managed. Our staff are trained in allergy awareness and emergency procedures.

  • How do you help new children settle?

We know starting nursery is a big step! We offer a gradual settling-in process tailored to your child’s needs, including visits with parents, flexible start dates, and lots of reassurance from our caring staff to make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Absolutely. Our premises are securely monitored with controlled access points, CCTV, and strict sign-in/sign-out procedures to ensure your child’s safety at all times.

We offer nutritious, balanced meals and snacks prepared onsite, catering to all dietary requirements and allergies. Menus are regularly updated and shared with parents.

  • What is your policy on illness and medication?

Children who are unwell should remain at home to recover. We follow strict guidelines on illness and medication administration, requiring parental consent and clear instructions before giving any medication.

  • How can parents stay involved?

We maintain open communication through daily updates, newsletters, parent meetings, and special events. Parents are always welcome to participate in nursery activities and share feedback.
