Outdoor Space
The mud will wash off but the memories will last a lifetime.
Rafles is surrounded by beautiful grounds that we are fortunate to have access to every day. Alongside our connected gardens, we regularly venture out onto the open fields, where children can explore the duck pond and woodland area. Whatever the weather, you’ll find our children outdoors, enjoying fresh air, adventure, and the freedom to explore nature while having the very best time.
“Nature is our favourite classroom.”

Our vegetable patch
The children help to plant, care for, and grow produce in our on-site vegetable patch, which our chef then uses in our freshly prepared, homemade meals.
“Being outdoors gives children the space to explore, imagine, and thrive.”
Why is it so important for children to be outside?
Being outside is incredibly important for children’s overall development. Outdoor play supports physical health by helping children build strength, coordination, and confidence through running, climbing, and exploring. It also benefits emotional wellbeing, giving children space to release energy, reduce stress, and develop resilience. Time outdoors encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving as children engage with the natural world, while social skills grow through shared play and teamwork. Most importantly, being outside helps children develop a love for nature and learning, supporting happy, healthy development in every area.
